The Long Winter Is Upon Us!

The last couple of mornings we have been blasted with snow.
It's quite a chore to shovel everything before school but it lends to a good workout.

Our next door neighbor, Joyce, is an elderly lady who is widowed so we shovel her out too. We also have an older couple that live a couple of housed away and when it gets bad we'll help them shovel out. The man, Herb, likes to get out and do some of it himself, but they live on a corner lot so they have lots of sidewalks to do and sometimes I worry that he'll give himself a heart-attack. I guess he has a reputation around town as being a grumpy old man, but he has been nothing but nice to us since we started helping him out. He makes the kids wooden toys and find baseballs at the ball park and throws them in our yard for the boys. When ever I drive by and he sees us, he gets the BIGGEST smile and waves and waves! It makes us happy to help these wonderful neighbors.

We have a snow blower but it's so big and heavy to use, we only pull it out on the days when the snow is just too heavy and too much. On those days, Dave goes out with the "big guns" and does the entire block! So when it's a few inches here and there we usually just do it the old fashioned way.

That is so nice that you shovel your neighbors' walks & that when you bring out the snowblower you do the whole block! I'm sure your neighbors really appreciate you & you are setting good examples!

God bless you this wintery season!! : )

You guys are being "shining lights" in that neighborhood. It sure looks like Christmas over there. Kind of wish we had some of that here.
